3 DIY Natural Face Masks for Summer-Ready Skin

Chances are you are spending all your time at home lately unless you are a health care worker, in which case, we bow down to you!

You may find yourself with a lot more time on your hands, so why not use some of that time to get creative and perhaps whip up some fun face masks to get your skin spring ready! You want to look your best when you come out of quarantine, and you can get your friends involved too via a fun zoom chat!

Whether you enjoy some solo pampering time or enjoy some cocktails with the girls on your screen, there’s no doubt that these ingredients are going to feed your skin with the good stuff!

Lemon and Honey 

Shed those old layers of winter by using ingredients that will shed dead skin cells while giving your skin a brightening boost!

Lemons are packed with natural acids, namely AHA’s and BHA’s, that naturally dissolve dead skin cells to reveal smoother, more radiant skin. Watch acne, blackheads and dark spots start to clear and fade when you add lemon to your face mask!

Honey is deeply hydrating and soothing, not to mention it provides a powerful antibacterial and antioxidant boost for glowing skin. 

What you’ll need:

  • ½ lemon
  • 1 tbsp raw honey


  • Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl, apply to your face, avoiding the eye area, leave to dry (about 15 minutes), then wash off with lukewarm water and pat dry.

Turmeric and Coconut Oil 

If inflamed, painful blemishes have got you down then this anti-inflammatory combo will nip that right in the bud!

Together these superstar ingredients will fight inflammation, kill acne-causing bacteria and fatty acids from coconut oil will promote a dewy, gorgeous glow for days!

What you’ll need:

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder


  • Mix in a bowl until a paste is formed.
  • Apply to your skin in a generous layer and leave to dry for at least 15 minutes.
  • Rinse and use a warm washcloth to gently remove all traces of turmeric. You may need to follow with an oil cleanse to fully remove the turmeric.


Aloe and Green Tea 

Give your skin a refreshing and cooling boost with this beautiful face mask. Aloe provides the cooling, soothing and hydrating perks while green tea infuses your pores with a potent boost of antioxidants! Note that fresh aloe pulp is best for this recipe, aloe in a jar is packed in preservatives to keep it fresh so not a good option. 

What you’ll need:

  • One brewed green tea bag
  • 1 tbsp fresh aloe pulp


  • First, brew up a cup of strong green tea and allow the tea bag to cool. 
  • Gently wipe the teabag all over your face, the same way you would use a cotton pad to apply toner. You could also put the cooled brewed tea in a spray bottle and give your skin a spritz.
  • Once absorbed into your skin, squeeze some fresh aloe pulp directly out of your aloe plant and massage into your skin. 
  • Leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water and patting dry.
